Story
In November 2014, we lost our brilliant friend Jo Maycock, who sadly took her own life. Jo suffered from bipolar, and those of you that knew her will know it was a huge part of who she was. Never one to shy away from anything, she would gladly take the time to explain the illness to those that didn't understand it and how it could affect her and her loved ones.
Jo was a woman with many life goals - one of her biggest ones was to help break the stigma around mental health, and spread the word & deeper understanding to the world. We hope, in her memory, to help keep that dream alive.
So, in a slightly insane decision making process that involved many beers, we have decided to run the 10K Superhero Run for Bipolar UK. Some of us are fit and active, and some of us consider moving from the television to the fridge a hearty day's exercise, but it will take all of us a lot of work and training!
Bipolar UK is a charity dedicated to supporting individuals with the much misunderstood and devastating condition of bipolar, as well as their families and carers. Even a donation of 10p will make all the difference. We are hoping to raise £1,200 (£100 each!) and every little helps so any donation will be gratefully received.
Please help us to raise awareness of this cruel illness, keep Jo's spirit alive and help us with this cause that is so close to our hearts.
Lots of love,
Heather, Darren, Stuart, Lucy, Pete, Sarah, Scott, Emma N, Emma R, Mhairi, Katy, Hendy & Rob.
