As a primary school teacher, I am used to spending most days with an incredibly unique and gifted bunch of children. In my first year of teaching I was fortunate to have an incredible class, strong, supportive, intelligent, witty and a pure joy to be around. During the February half term of 2015, we were deeply shocked and saddened to lose an amazing young boy called Harry. He was a polite, charismatic, bubbly boy; full of energy, kindness and an infectious personality. Nobody saw it coming and still to this day I can't understand how or why. 

His family and friends have already done a tremendous amount to raise money and awareness for Meningitis now and I too hope to do the same by taking on a huge challenge (for me anyway): riding 100 miles on a bike in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey. 

Until a couple of years ago, I hadn't owned a bike for 22 years. I still struggle to turn left now! But I'm training hard and taking on a challenge for this worthwhile cause.

Meningitis Now is working towards a future where no one in the UK dies from meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need.

I will never forget Harry and I hope to do what I can in order to prevent Meningitis from taking anyone else.
