Story
On Friday 2nd December 2022, our sister Moyra Whelan was travelling to a school friend's wedding when the car that she was a passenger in was involved in a terrible accident. The emergency services arrived very quickly, and she was assisted by emergency medics from the Great Western Air Ambulance service, who tried so hard to save her. Moyra suffered a cardiac arrest at the scene, but they managed to stabilise her enough to transfer her back to Southmead Hospital, giving her family time to get to Bristol. Unfortunately Moyra lost her life a few hours later, but we are very grateful that she had very fast access to a medical team who could care for her when she needed them most.
Moyra was quite simply a wonderful person, who put everyone else first. She was hardworking, thoughtful and kind, and we are heartbroken that she has passed away. Moyra regularly contributed to the London Air Ambulance Charity, so we know it is something that she cared deeply about. Rather than flowers, if you would like to donate something to the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, our family would be very grateful.
