Moray Wheelers West Highland Challenge
Fundraising for Cancer Research UK
Fundraising for Cancer Research UK
From 29 May to 1 June 2015, a group of 26 cyclists
(average age almost 60) from the Morayshire area will set off from Elgin to
complete a very demanding 320 mile cycle over 4 days. The group will head
to Fort William, Mallaig, Armadale and Kyleakin before heading back home via
Plockton, Shieldaig, Garve and Inverness.
A number of the cyclists taking part in this challenge have been very much affected by cancer or had loved ones’ who have suffered from the disease. They have inspired us to raise as much money as we can for Cancer Research UK and we are keen to once again to help those who are working hard to find better ways of treating this terrible illness. Cancer Research UK are focussing efforts in four key areas – working to help prevent cancer, diagnose it earlier, develop new treatments and optimise current treatments by personalising them and making them even more effective. But Cancer Research UK cannot achieve their mission alone. They rely on dedicated scientists, doctors and nurses and the generosity of supporters across the UK. Regrettably, it is a fact that one in three of us will get cancer at some point in our lives, but cancer need not be a death sentence. Screening, earlier detection and improved treatments have all improved survival rates and thanks to advances in cancer research, thousands of people who wouldn't have survived cancer 10 years ago are still here today. By supporting Cancer Research UK we believe that we can help change the statistics in future for all kinds of cancer. We know it can make a difference.
We are seeking your support with our efforts to fund raise on behalf of Cancer Research UK. This will be the 4th consecutive year of our group’s fundraising efforts and we are very keen to add to the £41,000 already raised for the charity. Your support with our efforts to raise money for Cancer Research UK would be much appreciated.
