Story
Hello! And thanks for taking the time to visit the Communicorp UK Mont Blanc Challenge 2014 Just Giving page.
On the 29th August - 5th September a group of people from Communicorp UK... The UK's newest and fourth largest commercial radio company will be undertaking the challenge of a lifetime... an attempt to summit the peak of the tallest Mountain in Western Europe and the 11th tallest in the world... Mont Blanc. As a group we love to push ourselves as far as we can with the end goal
of setting a personal best.
A quick introduction to the team:
Mark Lee: CEO of Communicorp UK
Keith Crane: Commercial Marketing Manager
Alan Scott: Account Director @ Smooth Radio North East
Clarissa Roberts: Agency Sales Director
Gemma Mainprize: SPD Project Manager / Marketing Executive @ Heart Yorkshire
On top of this we will be accompanied by Dan Searson and Sigal Bar-Ilan from Ultimate Training Days who have been absolutely brilliant to work, walk and socialise with over the last couple of years.
This challenge, whilst very exciting has it's own inherent dangers attached. The team will be climbing at extremely high altitude (heigh of 4810m) where the air is thin and there is the chance to become very ill and not be able to acclimatise properly.
On top of this - we are climbing through alpine terrain and travelling on a glacier - all of which requires technical expertise which have to be learned by the team prior to departing. This includes rope work, using crampons and ice axes and learning about dangers involving injury and crevasse rescue.
We are raising money for three charities:
Brainwave:
Brainwave helps children with disabilities and additional needs to achieve greater independence. The aim is to improve mobility, communication skills, and learning potential, through a range of educational and physical therapies.
Duchenne Now:
Duchenne's muscular dystrophy is a condition which causes muscle weakness. It is a genetic condition and can be inherited. It usually affects only boys, although girls may carry the Duchenne gene and symptoms
Charity Challenges for kids:
Charity Challenges for Kids help raise funds for children who need life changing medical treatment or operations abroad when help is not available in the UK or on the NHS.
This challenge is no mean feat and as a result we have set ourselves a very challenging goal for our charity goal. Please - get involved and donate whatever you can - all donations are greatly appreciated.
