OCD Action's vision is of a society where Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is better understood and diagnosed quickly, where appropriate treatment options are open and accessible, where support and information are readily available and where nobody feels ashamed to ask for help.

Story

This October, I’m running the London Royal Parks Half Marathon in support of OCD Action, an organisation working to raise awareness and improve access to care for people with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

OCD is widely misunderstood, often reduced to jokes about neatness or being particular. In reality, it’s a serious, chronic disorder often fuelled by fear, anxiety, and shame that can latch onto anything and shrink a person’s life. Because of the stigma and misinformation, people often go undiagnosed or untreated for years.

I wasn’t diagnosed until well into my 20s despite struggling since childhood. My OCD didn’t match the stereotypes and was mostly invisible, even though it has affected me daily.

Sadly, this delay is common. On average it can take 11-17 years to get diagnosed and access the right care.

OCD Action is working to change that, and I’m proud to be fundraising for them. If you’d like and are able to support, thank you so much.

Lastly, please send me some new tunes, my training playlist is getting really stale.

Thank you so much for reading and visiting my page!
