Dementia is a common condition that affects about 800,000 people in the UK. It's a syndrome causing the ongoing decline of the brain and it's abilities. It isn't a natural part of ageing. Dementia is a term for a group of diseases that can effect the brain, like Alzheimers and this creates issues with memory loss, agility, speech, language and judgement. This can cause the sufferer mental confusion and frustration. 

Unfortunately most types of dementia can't be cured, but if it is detected early there are ways you can slow it down and maintain mental function.
