Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. On the 27th of Septmber 2015 I will run together with Matteo and Marco the Berlin marathon to raise money for the Winnicott Foundation.
On October 20th my son Milo was born- 16 weeks early. My wife Daniela and I were in shock. We were both happy and sad at the same time. He just weighted 630gr and he was extremely fragile. This started a very long and difficult journey for our family, a rollercoaster of emotions. 5 months later thanks to the excellent care of doctors and nurses of the neonatal unit at Queens Charlotte we brought Milo home. We are ever so grateful for the care provided to Milo that saved his life.
At one point during this 5 month long stay Milo got very unwell and we thought we would be loosing him. Thanks to the Winnicott foundation who provides rooms for parents in the hospital we were able to stay near Milo day and night and visit him at any time. The possibility to stay as close as possible to our son during this difficult time has been extremely helpful for us and Milo.
So we're raising money to say thank you, and to help the Winnicott support other babies and parents during a similar time of need. An independent registered charity, the Winnicott Foundation was founded in 1985 by parents and doctors who wanted to do more for premature and sick babies than the NHS was able to do. The Winnicott survives exclusively on donations, so every penny counts. For more information, please see www.winnicott.org.uk.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please contribute generously, if you can, we'd really appreciate it, as the Winnicott has done so much to support our family. Today, Milo is 10 months old (or six corrected) and is more than ten times the size that he was born and is a happy baby.
