Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Please help support me as I take on the 3 week challenge to run the Richmond Riverside 10K race (never done it before) and raise money to help prevent people here in the UK going without a decent meal and help families who are living below the poverty line. I'm getting mega fit so other people can eat, so support me in both and lets turn this situation around - there are families starving right on our door steps!
Please give whatever you can, even 50p or a pound would make a huge difference, that's a loaf of bread, or a 4 pint milk, anything would be a massive help. Could you imagine not even being able to afford to feed your family?
13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK.
Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. Trussell Trust foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. Last year the UK foodbank network fed over 60,000 people experiencing food poverty.
They partner with churches and communities to open new foodbanks nationwide. With over 100 foodbanks currently launched, their goal is for every town to have one.
Another intiative the foodbanks do is to encourage people to buy just one extra item when they go shopping and donate it to them. I htink it's a really good idea, it's direct help and doesn't break anyones bank donating an item of shopping. Encourage your local supermarket to do it!
