Story

WE DID IT!  We made it! It was a really tough day and it certainly wasn’t plain sailing! Stuart had been very ill in the fortnight leading up to the event and in fact only made it back to work on the Tuesday before the event. But despite this, he showed his usual grit and determination and completed the cycle part of the challenge. Plus he and we cycled the 5 miles from our hostel to the starting line at 's Staircase near , just for extra pain! And James got a puncture in the first half hour. And it rained all morning, there was a strong headwind and it was unseasonably cold. And we did the last 3 hours in the dark!

BUT all of that was completely outweighed by just how terrific the whole experience was. There was a great atmosphere, the event was incredibly well organised and the scenery was stunning. We all had a terrific time doing the challenge and it really was a day to remember. You'll see some photos on this page plus a link to one video. All four of the short videos are at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrF3MrVULGY. We have been absolutely delighted at all of the very generous donations made in support of our team completing the challenge. Thank you so much. And this page will remain online for a while yet so it's not too late to donate!

What did we do?

Maggie's Monster Bike and Hike. We completed a 31 mile cycle to followed by a 24 mile hike to Drumnadrochit. The Monster Bike and Hike home page on Maggie's site is really worth a look:-

There's loads of information about this year's event as well as photos and videos from last year's event. There should also be a video on the site within the next month for this year's event. And you can find out about the terrific work Maggie's do. Did you know that last year's event raised enough to run one Maggie's centre for a whole year? So, this is a fundraising event which really works !
