Story
During the COVID-19 Pandemic many charities have been underfunded especially the Mental Health Services in Scotland. As you will all know, our family have recently tragically lost our Kian McKay who was only 17 years old. I have set up this donation page in Kians name, in hope that funding this charity may help another teenager in need.
I will be carrying out a 5K walk/run in memory of my cousin Kian in aid to SAMh every day for the month of July and ask for support towards this charity.
SAMh is a mental health charity in Scotland that provides support to people suffering from mental health and their families. Today in over 60 communities they work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others. These services together with their national programme work in See Me, respect me, suicide prevention and active living; policy and campaign work to influence positive social change.
In many ways, mental health is just like physical health: everybody has it and we need to take care of it. It’s important to remember that just
because we may not know exactly what causes someone to experience a mental health problem, this doesn’t mean that it is any less serious than any other illness, any less deserving of recognition and
treatment, or any easier to recover from.
