REVEALED: Top five most giving areas in Scotland

- Glasgow tops the list as the most generous area in Scotland, followed by Edinburgh and Aberdeen
- JustGiving has processed over 17 million donations to charities and good causes across the world this year

New data from the UK’s leading fundraising platform, JustGiving, has revealed the areas across Scotland which have given the most to charity and good causes in 2023 so far.
Top of the list as the most generous area in Scotland is Glasgow, with nearly 15% of the city’s residents having donated to a charitable cause through JustGiving.
Glasgow is closely followed by the Scottish capital, Edinburgh and the third biggest city in Scotland, Aberdeen.
The list ranks the most generous areas of the Scotland based on what percentage of the area’s population has donated to a charity or good cause on JustGiving between January and October 2023.
Top five most generous areas in Scotland
- Glasgow
Glasgow has landed itself first place as Scotland’s most generous city and 10th out of the whole of the UK. Out of Glasgow’s 616,000 residents, 15% have donated to a charitable cause on JustGiving in 2023.
- Edinburgh
In at second place and 22nd in the UK is Edinburgh with 11% of the Scottish capital’s 448,000 residents having donated via JustGiving in 2023.
- Aberdeen
Third in Scotland and 30th in the UK is Aberdeen with 10% of the area’s 217,000 residents having donated to a charitable cause on JustGiving in 2023.
- Dundee
With 8% of the over 150,000 people living in Dundee having donated to a charitable cause via JustGiving in 2023, the Scottish city landed itself fourth place in Scotland’s most generous areas and 41st in the UK.
- Falkirk
In at fifth place and 69th in the UK, 5% of Falkirk’s 143,000 residents having donated to charitable causes via JustGiving in 2023.
