Story
As the UK comes to terms with the Coronavirus outbreak what happens to the less fortunate? Over 14 million people in the UK already live in poverty and parts of Greater Manchester have some of the highest child poverty rates in the country. Many thousands of people in our communities already struggle to put food on the table.
Manchester Central Foodbank serve some of the most in need areas in Manchester such as Longsight, Ardwick and East Manchester and are already seeing increased demand due to Coronavirus. Those in insecure work and those already struggling to make ends meet may increasingly need somewhere to turn.
At the same time with localised shortages of some necessities there have been reports of drops in donations to foodbanks. Foodbanks need to replenish supplies themselves with cash donations.
If you feel like you want to do something to help the community during this worrying time please consider donating to Manchester Central Foodbank. £10 could provide a person with food for 3 days.
The foodbank is run by volunteers and all the money raised will go to buy food for those most in need. They intend to remain open to serve the community at this testing time. Lets help them with some donations so they can meet increasing demand.
