Story
On the 8th June I will depart to Loitokitok, Kenya as part of my international citizen service through VSO. Shouldering the border of Tanzania and in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, I will be living with members of the Maasai people in a securing livelihood project which aims to help poverty stricken areas generate income, improve living standards and raise awareness on important issues.
As part of my volunteering commitment I have been tasked with raising £1,500 towards the ICS programme that will help continue the great efforts of this programme and continue international support to some of the most poverty stricken areas across the world. For more information about ICS please check out their website at http://www.volunteerics.org/
In order to achieve my fundraising target, I will be doing a sponsored 10km run, setting up assemblies and cake sales in local schools and recruiting the help of my friends: Dean Mangia, Chris Merriman, Nadhiir Carrim and Ben Cherry who are running a half marathon in Prague to help me fundraise. Also, if I can raise at least a £100 through student sponsors, I will turn up to my final exam of my degree in my pyjamas - as I'm sure that's a sight you're all dying to see, I encourage you all to get donating!
I hope you are in a position to donate to the cause, but if not, please help spread the message about ICS and the great work they are achieving.
Thank you!
