Story
Very sadly, on 13th June 2019 Matthew Sawyer died aged 22 years old.
Matthew was a very bright, intelligent, kind person with a huge interest, empathy and concern for the natural world, in social and political events and the environment. He had suffered with extreme social anxiety for most of his life which, as he developed into adulthood only increased as the challenges of life got greater for him. He was finally diagnosed as having Asperger’s Syndrome (which is a condition placing him on the Autistic Spectrum) several years ago.
We have chosen to set up this page in memory of Matthew and to support the charity Autistica because they are a research based charity working directly with people on the Autistic Spectrum and their families, researching into better understanding, diagnoses, and interventions to help improve the lives of people living with the condition and the challenges they face.
We hope that by creating this legacy in Matthew’s memory it will be able to help people like himself in the future.
