Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am cycling across the West Bank this September to raise money for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), a wonderful charity that works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. I will start in Nablus and ride 275km over five days to Jerusalem via Qalqilya, Ramallah, Jericho, Hebron and Bethlehem. For a non-cyclist like me it will be a trip of Biblical proportions in more ways than one - not least for my backside (anyone familiar with the topography of the Holy Land will know that it is a land of many hills - the Netherlands, unfortunately, it is not). I am trying to raise at least £2,000 but, having such kind and generous friends and family - and a fundraising secret weapon which I hope to unveil in the coming months - I am confident of raising a lot more. I am covering all the costs of the trip - flights, accommodation, food, bike hire, insurance and ground support - myself, which means that every pound I raise will go straight to MAP. I have visited Palestine a number of times and am a long-time supporter of MAP. They do an amazing job providing medical staff and equipment for some of the world's most needy people, and in doing so help the Palestinians keep alive their dream of one day having their own independent state. Thank you, on behalf of MAP and the people of Palestine, for your support and generosity.
