Story
This JustGiving page has been created on behalf of his family, in order to support our fundraising mission in Mark's name and maintain his legacy.
Sadly and suddenly, Mark passed away on the 27th of December 2022, at the age of just 46.
Mark lived with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and as it is a genetically inherited condition so do many other family members, therefore Cardiomyopathy UK is a charity close to the family's heart. Mark himself did a-lot of fundraising for the charity over the years, because of this, we would like to continue in his footsteps. Any money raised will go straight to Cardiomyopathy UK in order for them to carry out extensive research, improve treatments and also raise awareness about the disease.
Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle. It is a group of conditions that affect the structure of the heart and reduce its ability to pump blood around the body. Medical experts estimate at least 1 in 250 people (approximately 266,000 people in the UK) have cardiomyopathy, many of which are asymptomatic.
Mark is a man that will be deeply missed by many. He was a devoted husband to Danielle and loving Dad to his three girls, Amy, Emma and Grace. He was also a huge family man being a much loved Son, Brother, Nephew and Uncle. Mark was into his sport, spending a lot of his time cycling, running and playing football. He dedicated a lot of his time helping with the running of the local football team, latterly becoming a coach for Stonehaven Athletic. Everyone loved Mark, his infectious smile and 'legendary' personality will be hugely missed.
Despite Mark's passing leaving a hole in many people's lives, he would want his misfortune to be fuel for further research into the very unknown condition that is cardiomyopathy. Hopefully with further funding and subsequent research others can be helped to live a full and happy life.
This page will be used as a hub for all fundraising that is done in Mark's name. There are many exciting things in the pipeline, so keep your eyes peeled! As well as this, the donations collected at Mark's celebration of life will be added to this JustGiving page.
Thanks for taking the time to visit Mark's JustGiving page.
