Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My mum spent 3 brave years battling bowel cancer and made a decision to spend her final days at East Cheshire Hospice.
We were unsure of her decision at first, thinking she would be best to stay at home where we could help care for her ourselves and make sure that she was surrounded by those who loved her at all times. Mum made her decision and we respected her wishes in December when the time came for her to go into the hospice. As it turned out mum really did know best - as ever!
We were able to do all of the above and were all supported by the most amazing staff who ensured that mum had the highest level of care. Mum was lucky to get a bed at the hospice as they have a limited number of places. It is a registered charity whose services are completely free. However, the Hospice receives less than 23% of its costs from the government and so has to fundraise almost £6000 every single day of the year simply to keep going.
It is hard to put into words just how grateful we are as a family for the support that we have received from East Cheshire Hospice. Every patient and their family in this difficult position deserves the right to have access to such a fantastic place staffed by the most caring and skilled people you could ever meet.
