About Making Space For Crafts
Craft changes lives!
We are a vibrant Havant-based charity making positive change to the lives of people aged 7-70+ in our community through the power of craft, making, mentoring, and self-belief. Our community members thrive, their wellbeing, happiness and pride soars when given opportunities.
Families in our community live with significant financial stress and in some of the most deprived wards in the UK, where crime rates are the third highest in the county. Despite the creative aspirations of the community whatever their age, there is no investment locally in supporting their development. Our craft activities can help to improve and manage the effects of living with mental health conditions, chronic physical illness, generate a sense of empowerment, and improves learning outcomes for children. Making Space gives young people and local emerging makers and artists opportunities of a life and career beyond the one expected. We demonstrate that culture and creativity are instrumental in building thriving communities and for over 15 years have demonstrated the positive impact of crafting right at the heart of this community.
