Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

A strong and independent Bar exists to serve the public. This is particularly the case for barristers at the Criminal Bar who often act on behalf of the most vulnerable members of society.

The current lockdown has led to all jury trials being cancelled and many members of the Bar are finding their practices curtailed in the extreme with no end in sight. The Chancery Bar Association recently made a donation of £30,000 to the BBA’s appeal to support those members of the Bar who find themselves in difficulty.

We at Maitland Chambers fully support the BBA’s appeal and we are looking to match the CHBA’s donation through this JustGiving page.

Anything you can give to support your fellow members of the Bar is gratefully received.

About the charity

The BBA exists to support, help and comfort those members of the Bar in England and Wales and their dependants who are in need, in distress or in difficulties. During the recent past we have helped barristers and their families in every circuit, often saving not only dignity but careers.
