Story

11/08/15 - It's an official Guinness World Record!

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/111627-most-times-to-take-off-and-land-in-one-hour-ultralight-aircraft

Stop Press - Success!!! The new unofficial world record set at 9.12am this morning now stands at 36 take off and landings within one hour!! That's 6 more than the previous record. (This is of course pending Guinness World Records reviewing all our evidence)

I'll post more details, video and pictures in near future

My thanks to all who helped make this happen and to all those who helped raise over £1500 for the NWAA. If you haven't yet donated and feel inspired to do so please follow link on this page

Update 07/04/15 -  unfortunately the poor weather last week means the ground work to the runways that was scheduled to be complete by now is still on going for the rest of this week. Because of this the practice session is now re scheduled for next week, early in the morning of Wednesday 15th April. If all goes well the attempt itself will be the day after on Thursday 16th April. Fingers crossed the weather plays ball...

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am planning to attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most landings and take offs (know as touch and goes) in one hour, which currently stands at 30

This attempt is in support of the North West Air Ambulance Charity who are not part of the NHS and are totally reliant on our donations.

In a split second unexpected things can happen that will change your life forever. It is in these moments that the North West Air Ambulance Charity will be at the right place at the right time making a life-saving difference.

Whenever access is difficult or time is critical, from the mountains in Cumbria to the motorways in Manchester, specialist doctors and paramedics can be flown to the scene of serious emergencies within in minutes.  The scope of medical emergency they encounter is vast but in every incident, time is critical.  In such a ‘touch and go’ situation, every second counts which is why the speed and accessibility of NWAA’s helicopters makes the rapid emergency medical care we provide absolutely vital and in many cases life-changing.

Whilst the attempt is weather dependent, we are aiming for it to take place during the first 2 weeks in April - we will update you as to exactly when this will be

I will be using a Mainair Flying School Eurostar EV-97 for this attempt, which will require extremely accurate handling to consistently achieve the optimal time possible. Each circuit involves climbing to at least 1000' above the airfield and then landing with all 3 wheels on the ground within an small area on the runway only 20m long.

I am hoping that my ‘touch and go’ world record attempt will go some way towards raising funds and awareness of the vital service provided by NWAA.  Anyone, of any age, anywhere may one day need their care.

Please support me today so they can be there for us tomorrow.

I must also mention the help offered by City Airport, Manchester and Peel Group to make this attempt possible - it is much appreciated!

Many thanks

Marcus
