Story

Strengthen youth Actions for Viable Employability – SAVE Tanzania

I'll be in Tanzania for 3 months, partnering to help female youth-led businesses in rural areas that are experiencing numerous forms of discrimination and shocks/stresses from COVID-19 develop sustainable business practices and connect with partners to help take their business further. Partners may include trainers to teach new skills, financial mentors, and advocates for inclusive and non-discriminatory business practices.

3 million enterprises contribute 27% of Tanzania’s GDP, employ 5.2 million people, 54% are women-led, 98% are micro, 66% have an annual turnover less than $2,000 and are operating with survival strategies. They are vulnerable to inequalities or living with a disability. A small donation can make a big impact.

$20 will keep a volunteer midwife in Sierra Leone training nurses that save lives.
$50 means an HIV positive woman in Mozambique can start her own business, so she can afford to house and feed her family.
$200 will pay for a VSO volunteer to help change lives in Sierra Leone for two months.
$150 can mean even the poorest children in Nepal will get an education by paying for an education advisor for a month.
$900 can help change the fortunes of the street children of Dhaka by paying for VSO volunteers to set up a six month education programme.

VSO brings people together to address marginalization and poverty. Right now, VSO is bringing justice to rape survivors in Pakistan, ending stigma against disabled children in Ethiopia and tackling the youth skills gap in Tanzania and Uganda. Please join me as I take a stand against poverty and support VSO's uniquely effective approach that reached over 1.5 million people last year alone.
