Story
On April 21st 2013 I'm running a really long way.
It was in 2010 that I first thought it might be a good idea to take up something like running to combat my tour diet of kebabs and beer and more kebabs. The problem is that I couldn't run. (You might be shocked to learn I was never a "sporty guy" at school.)
So I signed up for a 10k in 2010 and ran it and managed to not die. And then I signed up for a half marathon in 2011 and ran it and managed to not die (again).
After taking the past two years to recover from running a half marathon, I finally feel ready to re-enter the running arena – to don my running shoes and pound the streets once more in my biggest challenge to date.
I feel like Rocky in Rocky VI when he comes back and manages to defeat Mason Dixon. Like Tony Almeida in 24 when he returns from the dead. Like Liam Neeson in Taken 2 when he opens his fancy gun briefcase and kills EVERYONE. Again.
But I'm not going to box, return from the dead or kill anyone. I'm just going to run a marathon. And it would be really great if you could sponsor me and help me to raise lots of money for a very, very, very worthy cause. It will make the 6 a.m. starts and sore legs and bloody nipples (not yet, but apparently it happens) worth it.
Christian Aid's vision is to end poverty. They work globally to eradicate the causes of poverty, "striving to achieve equality, dignity and freedom for all, regardless of faith or nationality." They see poverty as an outrage against humanity.
So, friends, please dig deep and I will do my best to run really fast and not poo myself. Thank you for reading.
P.S. You can track my training and offer encouragement on RunKeeper.
