Story
Li Po Chun United World College (LPCUWC) in Hong Kong is one of 18 UWC schools and colleges across the world. It is a boarding community that is home to some 250 students from 80 countries. Like most UWCs, LPCUWC provides scholarships to many students because their philosophy is to ensure that excellent students are given access to exemplary education regardless of their financial capability.
Li Po Chun United World College has been hugely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and we need your help, so that the students selected to join this year will still be able to have the education they deserve. Because of COVID-19, all students who arrive in Hong Kong will have to be tested for the virus. If they get a negative result, they will have to quarantine off campus for another two weeks. Due to the unexpected nature of this expense, neither their National Committees nor the college have budgeted for this. This expense coupled with the associated expenses brought about by COVID-19, such as blended learning materials and the cost of food and housing for students who are stranded on campus, have put the college in a dire financial situation. As a response to this, we, LPCUWC Class of 2010, are raising money for our alma mater. We need your help to ensure that the students selected to join this year will still be able to have the education that they have worked for and deserve.
Whether it is GBP1000, GBP100, or GBP10, every contribution from you helps. If you can’t contribute financially, please share this video with your friends and family. Your support could directly change someone’s life by letting them have the education they deserve at Li Po Chun United World College.
P.S. Although this campaign is organised by the Class of 2010, we would, of course, welcome donations from everyone. Also, while the charity listed on JustGiving is UWC International, the money raised will be forwarded to LPCUWC.
