Lowdhams' Long Way Round Charity Cycle Challenge
8th/9th August 2010
10.08.10 WE DID IT ! MORE PICS UP NOW. FANTASTIC EFFORT BY EVERYONE. READERS, HAVE NO DOUBT THIS WAS A VERY CHALLENGING TEST AND THE TEAMS GAVE EVERY BIT THEY HAD, INCLUDING THE DRIVERS, WHO DID A SUPERB JOB LOOKING AFTER EVERYONE. IF YOU HAVEN'T DONATED YET, COME ON, SPARE A FEW QUID FOR MACMILLAN !!
An employees' conversation over coffee about getting in shape for a good cause got a few people excited and here's the result - a 120 mile cycle ride following a
challenging route
around the western edge of the Peak District between Lowdhams' Gunthorpe and Huddersfield branches, taking
in Nottingham, Derby, Ashbourne, Buxton, Glossop and Holmfirth. Two
teams (one at each branch) will leave at exactly the same time and meet
at the overnight stop near Buxton, before continuing on to the other
teams' branch the next day. None of the riders are serious cyclists and they will need to commit to training in order to complete the challenge within the timescale set.
This ride is being supported by Lowdhams, who are providing use of two motorhomes for accomodation and backup. In addition, Partner Steve
Sharpe is riding in the Nottingham team.
