We are taking on the challenge of walking 26 miles from Glasgow Green to Balloch this year to help raise vital funds for our Aaron and other children like him who have been diagnosed with a rare terminal disease called ROHHAD. The ROHHAD Association charity desperately needs funds for vital medical research to continue into the disease. Without this Aaron and other children like him will lose their lives.

Living with a diagnosis of ROHHAD means a lifetime of hospital admissions, surgeries and investigations. It is complex and Aaron requires continuous medical intervention and devices just to live such as his ventilator, tracheostomy, his bair hugger to heat his body to a normal temperature, daily injections and medications and more.

Aaron requires care, support and assistance 24 hours per day, every day from his loved ones and nurses who have all been trained in his care needs and requirements due to how complex his rare disease is. For example, if Aaron was to fall asleep for a nap or overnight without his ventilator attached to him he would die.

Little things we all do on a daily basis can be a huge challenge for him and often cannot be done without support or medical aids such as oxygen. Things most children and families enjoy such as swimming or water sports could kill Aaron and therefore he can't enjoy those activities including walking in the hills or any kind of distance.

Aaron could not walk 26 miles it would be too dangerous for him to even attempt and his body is not capable of such a challenge so we are taking on this challenge for him and the other ROHHAD children.

The Rohhad Association are who we are raising funds for. The charity offers support to families living with ROHHAD globally and they also fund vital medical research into ROHHAD. So many children have already lost their lives to this debilitating rare disease and the charity are doing all they can to help turn that around. There is hope, and research is underway however it will not be able to continue without continued support. We need your help!! Aaron and the other ROHHAD children need YOUR HELP!
