Finished the race! Took me 102 minutes which I'm happy with. Thank you so much to everyone who supported me, I've added a few photos from the day to this page and on Facebook.

**Update** 17 Oct 09: Just ran 8 miles around Reading and out to Sonning bridge. Took 79 minutes so I'm looking at 100 minutes to do the full Ten next Sunday. Not bad at all. Just rest days, stretching and toning between now and the Great South Run.
Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me so far - all much appreciated.
To find out why I'm doing this and why the RNLI are involved, click the READ MORE button at the bottom of this box. It's a good story!
And check out the photos on the left for a special bonus feature that should explain why I really took up running...
**Update**
7 Oct 09: Just ran 5 miles in the rain around Reading town centre and have learned the following valuable points 1. My fancy ventilating running shoes let water in the vents 2. My RNLI vest is a bit see-through - thanks for that :-) 3. Rain makes my hair very heavy and slightly matted at the back
On the plus side though 1. iPod appears to work in the rain 2. Rain prevents overheating 3. I really enjoyed running in the rain!
I'm all ready for the big day now, I've got the bright yellow vest, an electronic tag for my shoes to time me, safety pins for my race number and confirmation that I'm in Orange Wave C - start time for me is 10:58 Sunday morning. I've even got a service to text Chris when I cross the finish line!
Hopefully see some of you there!

Hi,
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
In a moment of boredom I decided to run for ten miles in possibly the pouring rain through Southsea, and in a similar moment of madness during the application process I also agreed that my finishing time would be in the 80-90 minute range.
So...I've got a few months to achieve my target and currently it's going ok. I can now (end of May) run from my house in Reading to Sonning and back which is 6 miles and takes me about 1hr15. However the next 4 miles in 15 minutes seems somewhat daunting... I'll keep you posted but having just learnt my brother did the three peaks recently on crutches I'm now inspired by a bit of sibling rivalry!
If you're wondering why I chose to support RNLI, then the box on the left offers a few pointers about them saving people's lives every day by risking their own. However, on a more personal level I remember a certain dive club (stand up SUSAC - you know who you are) that somehow dropped the RIB engine overboard off the Dorset coast and as the little inflatable drifted out of the harbour (this makes it even more embarrassing) into the great shipping lanes of the English Channel, it was considered prudent to call for help. To cut a long and cold story short, the coastguard launched a lifeboat to tow us back in and as is the ettiquette with these circumstances the dive club donated a sum to the RNLI. However, as we were a university (of Southampton) club our funds were never that liquid and I have long suspected that our donation would not have even covered the fuel used in the 'rescue'. Therefore I would like to do something for the RNLI so that they can continue their vital work is rescuing both the desperate and the slightly embarrassed.
In case you're wondering, I was not involved in the above tale of woe by dropping the engine overboard but I was Treasurer of the club at the time and had to write the cheque. And I also knew that £50 of fuel wouldn't fill our little engine in the RIB (underwater or not) so if I can raise £500 to fill a lifeboat with fuel I'd like to consider the debt settled.
So please sponsor me now! Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me as the RNLI will get your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Unlike one of my adopted man-family members (Paul Cross) I will not be wearing an amusing facial hair display to support the fundraising but I will make a cake (or dish of your choice) to the person who donates the most :-)
Much love LindsT xxxx

RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour search and rescue service all around the UK and Ireland, while lifeguards keep a careful watch on the UK’s busiest beaches. RNLI lifesaving and drowning prevention depend on supporter fundraising and the generous donations that you and others give.
