Story
Now more than ever Mental Health awareness needs to be addressed. 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind each year in England.
During the pandemic (and in particular during the first national lockdown) the statistics show that people who have pre-existing mental health conditions reported higher instances of anxiety, depression and loneliness. The uncertainty around income, employment and the future in general are all contributing factors to diminishing mental health.
We’ve all done our bit to stop the spread of this virus but what I don’t think we’ve done well enough is highlight the impact the virus has had/is having on the mental health of our society as a whole. As we head into the second lockdown and more uncertainty is brought upon us I’d like to raise money for a mental health charity close to home... Sunderland Mind. A charity that has helped, and continues to help, so many.
In an effort to raise some money, on the 1st of March I’ll be shaving my hair off. I haven’t had a haircut since before the first National lockdown, so I’m well overdue. I am well aware that times are tough for everyone right now so anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
