Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Between September 11 - 13 I will be part of a group
that will be cycling from Paris to Brussels to fundraise for EducAid
Sierra Leone http://www.educaid.org.uk.
The ride is 180 miles over three days, and will be my first ever long distance cycle ride, and quite a challenge!
EducAid is a small UK registered charity that promotes education among the underprivileged and war affected young people of Sierra Leone. Founded in 2000, Educaid began with 20 students and now has over 1400 students in 4 different schools.
Sierra Leone ranks as the poorest country in the world on the UN Human Development Index. The literacy rate is around 30%. There are many barriers to education in Sierra Leone: there is no free secondary education and students have to pay for uniforms, books and exams. EducAid tries to remove barriers and make it possible for young people to access education by providing free tuition and materials as well as a free lunch every day.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
I would really appreciate any donation you are able to make, as even a little can go a long way in Sierra Leone!
N.B I will not be cycling on a tamdem, apologies for any dissapointment.
