About KIND (Scotland)
KIND (Scotland) is a small Scottish charity working in areas of high unemployment and multiple deprivation, giving support to severely disadvantaged children and their families. 100% of the funds raised go to our work.
In the words of Stephen Yip MBE, who founded KIND in Liverpool in 1975 “One person can’t change the world, but you can change the world for one person.”
In 1992 KIND (Scotland) was set up with the very specific purpose of raising money to help children living in Scotland benefit from the KIND experience, which aims to show disadvantaged children that they and life can be different and that they and life can be better.
We work to find new ways to help children and families cope with the effects of poverty and disadvantage.
Examples of what we do are:
Providing school uniforms for families unable to make even a basic provision for their children.
Giving COVID-19 related relief to families suffering isolation and its most severe effects on mental wellbeing.
At Christmas distributing food hampers to families in very difficult circumstances. We aim to provide up to 200 such hampers each year. Each hamper is of a size to last a family over a substantial part of the Christmas period and even into the New Year.
Now more than ever help is required for children growing up in poverty in Scotland. Any donation no matter how small will be appreciated and wisely used.
