Twelve of us are embarking on a challenging adventure in a few weeks to celebrate a birthday. In lieu of any birthday gifts and to support our Kilimanjaro climb, please donate here to support the great work The Alzheimer's Society is doing to increase research efforts into early detection and prevention. 

Did you know that Alzheimer's is now officially the biggest killer in the UK - ahead of heart disease and cancer? But strangely, it gets only a quarter of the research funding that these other more well-known diseases receive. It is currently the only one of the top ten causes of death that we cannot prevent, cure or even slow down.

One person every 3 minutes develops dementia... so we have a lot of work to do! Anything you can donate is much appreciated. The Devonshire Dementia Care Home has kindly offered to match all donations (http://www.thedevonshirecarehome.com/)

Our goal is to raise at least £10K as this provides a research fellow the resources for one year to develop our understanding of the causes of dementia, improve care and treatment and search for a cure (or at least a way to stop this disease in its tracks!) £10K also provides two years' supply of special chemicals that can help researchers turn molecules into potential new treatments.
