We support families after a death on duty to help rebuild their shattered lives

Story

August 15th 2002 and January 9th 2003 are significant, unforgettable dates for the families of PC Bryan Moore, PC Andrew Munn and PC Ged Walker all who were killed in the line of duty.

The three families met on the 1st ever Survivors weekend arranged by Care of Police Survivors. The weekend's aim was to offer a support network with families in similar situations to share their new journey in grief.

Over the last 20 years the families have grown a special friendship and network of support.

To commiserate the last 20years the children wanted to mark this occasion with a particular challenge.

We will be hiking Toubkal which stands at 4167 metres, the largest of the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.

And as if the hike wasn't enough they will also be completing the 180mile bike ride around the East Midlands as part of the Police Unity Tour in August.

This is an opportunity to remember our loved ones whilst raising money and awareness of Care Of Police survivors the foundation of our friendship.

The team consists of Christopher, Jonathan & Victoria Moore, Sophie Davies, Sam Mitchell, Rebecca and Matthew Walker.

COPS provides peer support opportunities and access to counselling services to help surviving family members (‘survivors’) rebuild their shattered lives."Your loss is a part of who you are but COPS helps you realise that it doesn’t define you. We are all one big family."Since its foundation in 2003, COPS has helped hundreds of police families devastated by the loss of a loved one who died on duty.
