We train amazing hearing dogs to transform the lives of deaf people

Story

Hi,

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page, as many of you will know I was never keen on running until I starting Army Bootcamp Fitness classes last year, since then I have run in three 5km races and the time has come to move on to a 10k!

People will also know, I am a swimming teacher at the weekend and on a weekly basis have taught a little boy called Oliver- both his parents are deaf and I therefore feel this charity is very close to home.

Hearing dogs are easily recognisable by their distinctive burgundy jacket and lead slips, which helps to identify the recipient’s otherwise ‘invisible’ disability, bringing increased peace of mind for the deaf person. Deafness can be a very isolating and lonely disability, a hearing dog can offer a life-transforming practical alternative to technical equipment and give the recipient greater independence, increased confidence, companionship and a feeling of security. Any money you can spare to this amazing cause would be appreciated. Thanks!

About the charity

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.
