Keep Your Pet needs your help.

Due to the Coronavirus Keep Your Pet volunteers have been unable to run any planned events. For the same reason Age UK York is not able to provide the subsidy for Keep Your Pet that in previous years has enabled the service to run at its current level of activity. Please consider making a donation or regular donations to help keep this service running during this very difficult financial period. 

Keep Your Pet is a scheme, unique to York, looking after the pets of older and vulnerable people who are in hospital or unwell. The services offered include pet fostering, dog walking, cat feeding and vet visits. These can be offered in an emergency or as a planned support programme.

The scheme is organised as a collaboration between Age UK York and RSPCA York and Harrogate District and is hosted by Age UK York, who employ a part time administrator to manage and coordinate the scheme.  Full training is offered to volunteers. 

Potential clients are recommended to register their pets to give peace of mind before experiencing any difficulties. They will also then have access to other Age UK York services.

Whilst receiving a majority of its funds from Age UK York, Keep Your Pet cannot function at the required level without donations and fundraising events. Due to the Covid 19 outbreak all Keep Your Pet Fundraising activities for the summer have been cancelled.
