Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our appeal.

Since the last appeal we were desperate for paint and sanding supplies amongst other things.  What I can say is that we were blown away by the generosity in such hard times.  The amount of work that has gone into the space has been extreme.  We have stripped walls back not just to bare plaster, but bare bricks! We have rewired, replumbed, plastered and painted.  We're now in the final stages with building control to sign off some of the changes we've made for safety reasons, bringing fire doors up to code and getting adequate ventilation for our machinery use.

What do we need now?

We originally had plans for halogen style heating which is cheap and efficient, but this has been discouraged due to safety reasons and because we have a smarter strategy to deal with energy efficiency and stopping our pipes bursting.

The hope is to procure a number of wall mounted panel heaters which have "intelligence" - ie they turn on at specific times of the day or at temperatures set, but will turn off if someone props open doors.  The heaters will also have a "boost" setting, which resets after an hour - this is important because we do not want people forgetting to turn off heaters when they leave the building.

We have air conditioning in the computer lab and the social space, so these are for the smaller spaces such as the kitchen, toilets, lobby and laser room.

We also need a little money for ventilation systems as well.  The total cost is £1,500.

If you're able to support in any way possible, please let us know and as ever, we will provide updates throughout the project to let you know what's going on.  You can track us in detail on both Twitter and Facebook!

What Tim is Doing?

Lockdown has had many of us stuck at home in front of screens.  My intention is to complete the couch to 5k programme (something I've never managed to do) during October to the 27th November.  I intend to cover around 75 kilometres (1.8 marathons!) during this time.  I have both asthma and a leaky heart valve which complicates matters somewhat, but a fun challenge starting slow building up to the final 5k at the end!

You can access my run stats here: https://en-gb.smashrun.com/tim.neobard/overview - though I've only captured a few runs from October manually in here as November is going to be the main push!
