Story
We have been lucky enough to receive excellent care so far during Katie's pregnancy and we are painfully aware that many women in developing countries are not beneficiaries of the birth lottery as we have been. Given Karl's connection to South Africa we wanted to find a charity that was providing support to Sub Saharan Africa.
We have decided to donate to Mothers2Mothers who help women in ten African nations including South Africa where it was founded to do the following;
1. mothers2mothers (m2m) employs women living with HIV as Community Health Workers called Mentor Mothers.
2. m2m Mentor Mothers work both at health facilities and door-to-door to improve the health of communities across ten African nations.
3. They deliver life-changing services to women, children, adolescents, and entire families.
4. This Model improves health of communities, while delivering meaningful employment for women living with HIV.
We encourage you to browse the website to find out how they are helping new mothers in Africa birth and raise healthy babies whilst also focusing on their own health and independence.
