Story
Our family Walk 500 Miles challenge is an opportunity not only to raise money to support the brilliant work of YPCS , but also to improve our own mental wellbeing and keep fit and healthy in the process. This year has been hard on every one of us not being able to spend as much time with the ones we love and enjoying the things we take for granted. By doing this walk and achieving our goal it will mean we have accomplished something together even when we can’t be physically, from 3 months to 80 years every member is taking part and any donation is greatly appreciated however small it will make a real difference.
The Young Peoples Counselling Service (YPCS) is a registered charity providing a free and confidential service that can be accessed by anyone aged between 11 and 18 years old in emotional difficulty. Common problems we encounter include family and relationship difficulties, issues regarding loneliness and anxiety, problems associated with low self esteem and bullying, self harm, abuse, addiction, distress through bereavement or loss, depression and difficulty with decision making.
The Young Peoples Counselling Service receives no statutory service funding. They rely on donations to keep our services running and yet we have been able to support hundreds of young people in need. With mental health services becoming increasingly strained, we are here to help all young people feel heard, respected and valued.
