Story

The Bexceptional Foundation provides subsidised counselling sessions to women, girls and female identifying people who have experienced a sex or gender based harm.Mental health support services in the UK have been stretched for years, but following the covid-19 pandemic, they are even harder for many to access. Some NHS services have wait lists of several years, and private counselling is not affordable for many. The Bexceptional Foundation realises that time is of the essence when experiencing or recovering from a sex/gender based harm, and aims to increase access to mental health support and counselling for beneficiaries by subsidising up to 50% of the cost of up to 20 sessions with a licensed counsellor. Since our launch in January 2021, we have supported 15 beneficiaries with between 10 and 20 sessions each, many of whom have seen drastic improvements in their mental health and wellbeing thanks to the counselling they've received.
