Story

We are organising our second annual charity walk, taking the West Highland Way from Milngavie to Balmaha and raise funds for St Margaret’s Hospice on Saturday 2nd May 2015, leaving at 0930 from the WHW obelisk Milngavie.

In 2014 over 100 walkers participated and we raised over £8,600 for the Hospice.

Angela's first anniversary is Thursday 16th April 2015.

Angela received loving care and support from the committed staff at St Margaret’s and we would like to acknowledge their attentiveness and kindness to Angela by means of fundraising to ensure St Margaret’s is able to provide this comfort and reassurance to those in need now and in the future.

We plan to walk from Milngavie leaving at 0930 along the West Highland Way footpath.  There are two (2) distances that walkers can choose from; 7 miles to The Beech Tree at Dumgoyne (taking approx 3 hours) or 21 miles to  The Oak Tree at Balmaha (where you should allow 8 hours).

We are arranging a bus transfer back to Milngavie from both points once we have confirmed participants.

Cost per adult taking part is £20.00 which can be paid directly to our justgiving page; let's see how much money we can raise to show our appreciation to the hospice who nursed this truly inspirational girl.

 Walkers Tips

 * Enjoy the walk and remember the good times with Angela

* Wear comfortable footwear, e.g. trainers (Fitflops also an option of course.....!).

* Bring a waterproof and fleece -last section over Conic Hill is quite high and can get chilly

* A section of the walk near Carbeth involves walking along a road for approximately 200m. EXTRA CARE MUST BE TAKEN ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN

* Please email or message Juliecairney@phs.co.uk with your intended finish point and if you require a lift; this is ESSENTIAL to plan return transport to Milngavie

* Please inform those walkers with HiViz garments if you intend to leave the walk outwith your planned destination; we need to ensure everyone is accounted for and safe

 * Emergency numbers for your reference; Brian Clarke 07770 842542; Julie Cairney 07736 379814/07792 231847 or Mark Cairney on 07879 484545
