Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In February 2011 my friend, Julia Bradley, was diagnosed with breast cancer and with those few words her world literally turned upside down. After 18 months of battling, Julia sadly lost her battle.
In Julia''s own words "fighting cancer shows you both the very best and the very worst aspects of life, the worst because you simply wouldn't wish what I have experienced on anyone and the best because you have the true privilege of meeting people who get up and make a difference to the lives of people fighting cancer every single day".
There are many cancer charities; all of them equally important and Julia benefited from the resources of several of them. However I know from spending time with Julia that there is no doubt that anyone who is in that position hasn't contemplated the fine balance between making a recovery or not.
Julia and I had planned to undertake the trek in September 2012 at a point when things appeared to be going well for Julia. Sadly at the start of 2012 it became obvious very quick this was not going to be possible. So for that reason my Dad has stepped up to trek in her place to raise much needed funds for St John's Hospice in Lancaster. They provide palliative care to those terminally ill with cancer. They provide a caring supportive environment for the patients and their families allowing people to retain their dignity.
Julia has been one of the most inspirational people in my life and I will be proud to go and achieve this goal with my dad that she set out for us to do together.
Dad aka Colin and I will be trekking to Machu Picchu in May 2013, and would ask that you sponsor us in raising funds for St John's Hospice. All the money you donate on this page will go straight to the charity as we have elected to pay for the cost of the trip ourselves. We don't care how much you donate - whatever you can afford because every penny literally makes a difference someone.
So please donate now.
