Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Friends James Copeman-Bryant and Jo Oldham are (perhaps foolishly) cycling from London to Paris (as part of a likeminded group of fundraisers)
Why you may ask?
Apart from shared middle aged insanity, the reason is to raise as much money as possible for Great Ormond Street hospital..
In 2006, Jo's son, Ollie was born. After a few weeks it was clear that all was not well, and having been to local hospitals without a diagnosis, Ollie was transferred to Great Ormond Street.
Ollie was diagnosed with a very rare form of Leukaemia. The team at Great Ormond Street took care of him, found a bone marrow match, and aged 8 months, Ollie underwent a bone marrow transplant.
Having spent most of his first year at Great Ormond Street, Ollie's transplant was successful. The care given to Ollie and the family as a whole was incredible.
Ollie is now 6 years old. He has had a lot to cope with. Since his transplant, he has subsequently been diagnosed with a rare genetic condition, and he has a severe learning disability. Despite this, he remains a happy and lively boy, he has a killer smile and touches the hearts of everyone who meets him.
Great Ormond Street has been a big part of his life. The care and treatment he has received has been amazing, and it is thanks to the research and treatments developed at the hospital that Ollie is here today.
We owe them a huge debt, so hopefully by raising lots of money (with your help) we can make a difference for other children.
