A year ago one of my mates, Gareth, wrote me a letter inviting me to avoid the stereotype of a mid-life crisis. Instead of buying an impractical car, going to nightclubs with people half our age or having botox why not try and actually achieve something. I was sold on the idea straight away and besides, all the other things are in the post anyway aren't they?
Well, a year on and we leave pretty soon. I'm obviously paying for everything myself but it promises to be a fair challenge especially with a few injuries after dislocating my hip a while back so I reckon that will start to grind after a few days. There's also the altitude which should be interesting as I've only ever walked up to 1000 feet and A.B.C comes in at 4,200 METRES! I’ll also be carrying all of my own kit.
I'm raising money for The Lords Taverners as it's a charity very close to my heart and one I've become very involved with. The organisation helps disabled and disadvantaged children all over the U.K and the work I've seen personally is quite breathtaking.
