Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cancer Research UK gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!

Bike ride from Brighton to Paris - 30th July - 3rd August 08 I must be mad, made worse still by the fact we are hoping to do London to Southend bike ride the week before (60 hard miles)

So what's the chances of me completing this event ?

No training - or VERY little, Dave White says he is taking out insurance on me because he is confident this fund raising event will kill me !

Hadn't been on a bike for years - don't even own a bike - luckily for me I have been loaned one.

My training partner lasted just two days - leaving me to train on my own - having made me get up at 7.00am the first morning and 6.30am the next !!!

Over weight - weighing in at 86 kllos which is a good 6 kilos over my ideal weight

At nearing my 36th +/- Birthday - I'm no spring chicken

In fact, we take in my birthday on this trip, 1st August no presents please, just a small donation is all I ask.

Talking of which ... Donations, OK so this is the deal, I'm not asking for anybody to donate large sums - I am pretty confident I will complete this bike ride and lets be honest its not a big deal for one as young, fit and healthy as I ........ (-;

I have chosen to donate to cancer research.

I know there plenty of worthy charities out there and I know we are all being asked on a regular basis to donate to one or another.

HENCE all I am asking is that in return for the cinema tickets that I try and put your way - or perhaps the Wimbledon tickets I may have been able to help out with in the past (Caron has now left the LTA - and these may be a thing of past now) that you donate just a little - and if I get enough people donating a little, then I should hit the target of £750

Well its just 3 weeks to go and yes I have left it very late to start raising money - and much too late to start training - but EVERY LITTLE helps.

Please - I am NOT looking for big donations, just keep it comfortable and if I can get enough donating a little, I am sure we can hit the target.

MANY THANKS - JONATHAN

Update Friday 18th July

Just two days to go and we do our warm up event London to Southend (60 miles) which is bound to prove a real test as to our chances of completing the Brighton to Paris on the 30th July - 3rd August.

A friend of mine Mike hill (whom I note hasn't sponsored me yet!!!!!) has asked that perhaps some of the money raised could go directly to his work colleague BRIAN -

I don't know Brian, but if you read his web site he is at present in the unfortunate position of under going treatment for cancer - see his web site at http://www.forthelifeofbrian.co.uk -

should you feel you wish to donate directly to Brian please feel do so as follows: http://www.justgiving.com/forthelifeofbrian

Updated Monday 21st July - the day after the London 2 Southend Bike ride.

Well I have to be honest, it wasn’t as easy as I had anticipated ...... Took in two stops totaling about 1Hr 15mins and I’m not sure that was a good idea – certainly I was pleased to see the finish line and never had a hero's welcome quite like that before ....

Was in bed by 9.15 knackered – woke up with the old legs feeling they didn’t belong to me ......  Guess tomorrow morning will be worse

Put it this way I’m in no hurry to sign up for next years event
