Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My brother Chris, who sadly passed away on the 18th june 2016, spent a lot of time in Wythenshawe hospital, being cared for by the staff there and Dr Nivens research time at the north west lung centre. Chris suffered from a rare disease, Churg Strauss syndrome, an autoimmune disease, they helped him so much, and basically kept him alive. he also helped them, as it is a rare disease chris also gave them lots of feedback.
While Chris was in wythenshawe hospital for treatment one time he came up with the idea of a fundraiser not only as a thank you for the work that they had done but also to raise awareness. In Dr Nivens team there was a swimming specialist, and a rowing specialist, as i did some cycling Chris came up with the idea of a triathlon type event with these 3 elements. for various reasons, this event has been centred around windermere.
The event will be swim on windermere 1/2 mile
kayak the length 11 miles
cycle round 28 miles
This event will take place on the 18th june 2017, on the 1 year anniversary of chris's passing
There are a number of us doing this event, and while i was doing this as a personal challenge in memory of chris, a number of people have asked about donating, this is why i have set up this page, and will also have a sponsor form.
The north west lung centre are specialise in all types of respiratory diseases inc, asthma, cystic fibrosis, lung transplants, clergy, lung cancer etc.
