Story
About Jim:
As with so many spinal cord injured people, life for Jim changed abruptly and without warning in May 2019. So much has happened in the two years since that evening. Hospital stays, tests, rehabilitation, homelessness, new accommodation, carers, physiotherapy, lockdowns, no carers, healthcare routines, relearning how to be independent and just adjusting to life as a permanent wheelchair user. It's been an exhausting ride!
Accessibility
Thanks to his supporters generosity, your generosity, Jim has now purchased most of the rehabilitation and mobility equipment that was on his wish list - we are just waiting on deliveries from Europe now. Although we don't know what might be around the corner in terms of Jim's needs or how his injury/rehabilitation may progress, knowing that he is well-equipped now is a great boost to his morale.
Jim is still relearning his living skills, the kitchen in his home is yet to be adapted which makes things difficult for food prep and washing up, but he has managed to sort out most of his home so that he has the things he loves to do around him. His next focus is accessing his outdoor space and so we are now raising funds to build a platform, ramps and paths from his back door so he can hone his green fingers and do some therapeutic gardening,
Your donation:
Jim receives 100% of your donation & if you can Gift Aid, Aspire use some of that to continue their vital work for other spinal cord injured people. Please be assured that both Jim and Aspire benefit from your generosity.
