Story
Bees get good press. They're fuzzy, busy and make us wax and honey. We keep bees at home in Margate and I've become fascinated by these wonderful creatures. But honeybees are only part of the story. All sorts of bees, wasps, moths and flies are needed to pollinate plants that provide food, shade, oxygen and habitats. Supporting Bees for Development not only supports farmers in developing countries with their livelihood (amazing work in itself). Through encouraging planting and preserving trees and flowers for pollinators it supports whole ecosystems, both overseas and here in the UK.
That's why I've chosen Bees for Development as the charity I'm supporting through Poets for the Planet's Poem-a-Thon. Come along on Saturday 8 February to hear some fabulous poets, take part in writing workshops and support the cause. Whether or not you can attend in person, please donate here to help this small charity make an even bigger impact.
