I am raising money for the Edinburgh Sick Kids' Foundation because I can't think of a better way to show my gratitude to the hospital that saved my son's life.

Samuel was born in May 2012 with a life-threatening condition  called Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), and was quickly transferred to the Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh for surgery at less than 2 days old. He remained in hospital, thankfully going from strength to strength, for 5 weeks in total and during that time, the Friends Foundation provided us with somewhere to stay within the hospital so we could be near Samuel 24 hours a day even though we already had a base in Edinburgh; parking and food vouchers; all the facilities of the Drop-in Centre including the playroom for Hazel and Eoin; and not least a listening ear and a shoulder to cry on.

The Sick Kids Foundation raises money to continue offering these services but also to provide new equipment, toys etc to the hospital itself. I can never thank the hospital and the Foundation enough for all that they did for our family so the least I can do is to try and raise some money for them so that they can do the same for the next family who needs them.
