Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My beloved husband, Jeetan, was a loving family man, with two young boys. He was first diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer in the late summer of 2017. He underwent rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment, and after a life changing operation to remove the remaining tumour he was clear, and life returned to a new normal.
He achieved so much in his career in Medical sales and worked very closely with surgeons to thermally ablate cancers, something that was very close to his heart. He was very passionate about his job and set up and helped run the Oesophageal Patients Association (OPA) support group in Cambridge in 2018, which he also benefited from.
Fast forward to May 2020, Jeetan became seriously ill, the cancer had metastasised and he was diagnosed with secondary peritoneal cancer, a cruel aggressive cancer, which could hardly be detected. After several rounds of harsh chemotherapy, there was some hope but Jeetan's health started to rapidly decline in January 2021, leaving him weak and immobile. Jeetan fought a long and hard battle right till the end and finally passed away on 16th July 2021.
Throughout this time we also had the help and support of Maggie's and the Arthur Rank Hospice, who were amazing. I know he would like to give back by raising funds for the charities, which helped the whole family in our time of need, so please, if you can, donate to the OPA Patients Support Group charity in Jeetan's memory.
He will be truly missed but never forgotten.
The Oesophageal Patients Association (OPA) is an independent registered charity formed in 1985 when a few former oesophageal cancer patients met and found tremendous reassurance in sharing experiences. Since then, we have helped thousands of patients, carers and their families. The members and subscribers of the OPA are primarily patients who have experienced oesophageal or gastric difficulties, not forgetting the hard work of their carers of course and the support of their families, friends and our excellent Health Care Professionals. We produce many thousands of our booklets, leaflets and information packs as a valuable reference to patients, carers and their families, including NHS Trusts, Macmillan, Maggie’s Centres and many other organisations. All of this is supplied FREE of charge and paid for by the OPA. We would be grateful for any donations you could make so we can continue to help those who need it.
