We support young people fighting cancer to live their best life

Story

As a Trustee for Teens Unite, I’ve put myself forward to be ‘locked up’ to help the charity support more young people fighting cancer.

On 18th June, I will become a Teens Unite inmate within the charity’s
offices at the former police station in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire. I’ll pull on my convict suit, face police questioning for a crime I haven’t committed, and spend a night in an original cell without any luxuries or home comforts.

Every day in the UK seven young people hear the words ‘you have cancer’.

Facing cancer and battling all that it brings is a lonely, and isolating experience. Following treatment in young people, 80% will experience anxiety and depression and their lives feel trapped and restricted. For one night only, I’ll be spending a night in solitude behind bars, to raise as much funds and awareness as I can for Teens Unite, so they can ensure young people don’t have to face their battle alone.

Please sponsor me to take part, and with your donation, write a light-hearted crime that you think I should have committed.

Teens Unite supports young people fighting cancer to live their best life, while others search for a cure. We inspire young people to recognise their potential now and in the future and empower them to live every moment to the full. When you're faced with cancer, plenty of people will tell you what you can't do, but we show these young people what they can do; not letting the 'c' word hold them back or define who they are.
