Story
This month, Elliot Dallen sadly passed away. His recent article was a powerful piece on his reflections on his life and advice for us to follow -
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2020/sep/07/terminal-cancer-live-cancer-life-death. It was The Guardian's 'most read article' that day, and has been read over 3 million times. The Justgiving page set up at the same time has raised almost £30,000 for Trekstock, helping young adults through and beyond a diagnosis of cancer.
Elliot was passionate about the legacy he could create and hoped that his family and friends could continue fundraising in his name. The Elliot Dallen Trust is being registered as a charity, but in the meantime we have chosen a cause close to his heart.
Danielle Linggood, Matt Lewis, Nicola Richards and Vinh Nguyen will therefore be walking the coast of the Isle of Wight at the beginning of October, a distance of 70 miles, over four days, to raise funds for Cool Earth, a charity which protects endangered rainforest in order to combat global warming, protect ecosystems and to provide employment for local people.
The environment is a cause Elliot cared deeply about - he dedicated his 31st birthday raising money for environmental charities and even used his birthday to have us planting trees on a cold November morning!
Please help us support this worthwhile cause in Elliot's name.
"I’ll be gone soon, but humanity will still be faced with the huge challenge of reducing carbon emissions and saving habitats from destruction. In my time here, I’ve been lucky enough to see some natural wonders and understand how precious they are. Hopefully future generations will be able to say the same. But it will take a massive collective effort."
